Sometimes, the only way I am able to express myself is through art. I articulate my emotions and thoughts visually and through writing because I feel that these are pure forms of self-expression. To be able to channel that expression and to be willing to explore it is a gift. As a result of that exploration and expression, I feel that I possess a sense of purpose.
I do not claim to be an artist in the traditional sense but I have an uncanny connection to art. I’m inspired by others who are gifted artistically. I’m inspired by people who recognize that inspiration is in the everyday insignificant details. They also acknowledge that inspiration requires passion and energy. I’m drawn to individuals that exhibit that intrinsic creative genius. Perhaps that is why I am inspired, and straight cuckoo, for Solange Knowles.
I’ve been toying with the idea of whether or not to take a week off from blogging.
I know, I know. You’re probably thinking, “What do you need a break for? You’re not even working right now.” True. But every so often (more often than “so often”), I get into a bit of blogging rut. Not because I lack content to write about, but because I just don’t want to write. And I honestly can’t tell you WHY that is. It just is. This has never happened to me so early in the year but I will say, whenever I’m going through a transitional phase, it is difficult to focus. And that’s as best as I can explain it.
The idea of deserting my blog for a week seems kinda crazy. But maybe it’s what I need in order to recharge and post with enthusiasm again.
You guys thought I was done?! #Nah. I wore my final Zappos.com outfit to my friend’s birthday party Saturday night. I pretty much felt school-teacher sexy.

There are certain luxuries one cannot afford when unemployed. Leisure shopping is one of those things. Luckily, I got a great opportunity to partner with Zappos.com and received some amazing goodies.

This Winter has been so wonky. One day I’m wearing a coat with layers of clothing underneath, the next day I’m in a sleeveless tank. It makes no sense. On one of those “nice” days, I asked one of my friends, Derek, to take some pics of me. He’s an awesome photographer and I was just hoping to get some of that awesome rubbed off on me.
So very proud of my friend Krystal Knight of The Feisty House for starting her business, The Feisty Society Clothing Company. I finally got to wear my ‘My Blog is Dope’ sweatshirt when I broke out of the house yesterday during Snowmaggedon. I’ve watched Krystal transition within the blogging community and I’m really really proud of her. Everything she sets out to accomplish comes to fruition by her dedication and hard work. She has done so many great things so far and has many more in store.
I mean, Winter has to be the most unrelenting of all seasons, isn’t it?
West-Indian people are some of the most intriguing and amusing folks I know.

Speaking of truth, there are some things that Haitians, in particular, do, that really give me pause.
My friend Jana is here celebrating her birthday so I treated her to lunch at my favorite place, West Egg. Happy early birthday, Jana!!!! Lets get this grown up turn up. 🙂
I colored my hair a few weeks ago and I never really shared that journey with you all. Shame on me. My girl Tammi Dotson (at Salon Saison) has been straightening my hair all year. She does a fab job, I might add. Now we all know a trip to the salon is an all day thing, right ladies? I actually took the day off to get hair my color, lol. That big of a deal.
