Yesterday I went jogging and it was the most exhilarating feeling I’ve had in a long time. I’m not a jogger…yet. I’ve only really done it once. In that one time, I felt physically ill. Like, I’m going to die if I don’t stop running RIGHT NOW. But the person I was jogging with kept encouraging me to keep going. I was told that I was doing good. That I could make it. It was soooo annoying at the time but it was necessary.
Fast forward to yesterday and all I could think about were those encouraging words. When I started getting out of breath, I remembered to breathe…keep going. When I tried to tell myself that I was tired, that I could not continue to run, I heard, “just one more lap, you can make it”. Long story short, I ran a lot yesterday and I felt grrrreat!
My suggestion when trying to encourage yourself while facing a difficult task is to have a scripture that can be easily repeated.
Phil 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
1 John 4:4 “(You) have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he that is in the world.”
Josh 1:9 “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
